August 15, 2015

At 2024hrs Box Alarm 81-29 was sounded for reports of a fire in a townhome in the 9200 Block of Easton Ct. Rescue 501 arrived on scene with a 1 1/2 story duplex with fire showing from the back side and from the roof. Engine and Tower 501 arrived to find the same with fire now self venting from the roof and in exchange took control of the entire attic between two occupancies . Engine 501 stretched a line to the fire building and met up with Rescue 501 and started opening up and extinguishing the fire. Tower Ladder 501 threw multiple ground ladders and while chauffer from Tower Ladder 501 made the roof to make a cut. Within seconds the conditions in side improved while members in side were getting a knock on the fire. Battalion 589 (Oliver) radioed a partial collapse of the roof on side chrlie and shortly after Battalion 582 (Franzello) ordered all units out of the structure and called for a 2nd alarm. Members for Engine 501 then placed the wagon pipe in serivce for a couple minutes to knock down some of the fire before members were allowed to return. Members for Co. 1 worked well together given the difficult circumstances to extingush the fire. Units went ready at 2326hrs.
