FOAM ENGINE AND TOWER 501 ARRIVE WITH HEAVY FIRE FROM THE REAR OF A TOWNHOUSE IN THE 9800 BLOCK OF MAURY LN. (1ST DUE)

At 0308hrs Box Alarm 81-26 was transmitted for reports of a townhouse on fire in the the 9800 block of Maury Ln. (George Town South) Tower 501 arriving on scene first to find a 2 story middle of the group townhouse with heavy fire showing from the rear of the home and requested a 2nd alarm. Foam Engine 501 found a near by hydrant and arrived on scene and stretched to the main fire building where they started to get a knock on the fire. A neighbor notified the officer from Tower 501 that their may be someone still inside the B1 exposure. Tower 501 gained entry and started to search the second floor, it was at this time the first floor flashed over and cut off the main point of egress. The officer and fireman of tower 501 were cut off, and retreated to a near by bedroom, before the fireman from tower 501 jumped out of the second floor window and ran to grab a ladder to rescue the officer from tower 501. No injuries were sustained and searches where negative in the B1 exposure. The fire consumed a total of 3 townhomes when it was all said and done.
