CREWS FIND FLUIDS
AND FUEL LEAKING FROM A VEHICLE |

October

-
At 1813 hrs,
Engine 1-1, Attack 1, Spill 1 and Chief 1-1
responded to 9205 Hood Road in the project of
Georgetown South for the report of fuel leaking from
a vehicle. On arrival, Engine 1-1 found a pickup
truck with a large outflow of fuel and oil. The
fluids were running into the storm drain so the
first objective was to quickly make a dam out of oil
dry and dirt to prevent any further contamination of
the sewer system. With that task complete, crews
laid down some absorbent pads around the leak and
one member of Spill 1's crew donned a Tyvek suit and
crawled under the truck to stop the leak. Safety 1
was notified and responded to the scene. The owner
of the vehicle was located by the cops and remained
on the scene with the Safety Officer after the units
from Company 1 cleared at 1913hrs. |
