WAGON AND TOWER
RESPOND ON MANASSAS PARK ROW HOUSE FIRE |
|
November 13, 2000
-
At 0139 hrs, the
Manassas Volunteers were woken by communications,
alerting them the to respond second due to a
reported fire at 8315 Sunnyside Court, in Manassas
Park. Wagon, Tower, and Chief 1 and Chief 1-1
arrived to find heavy fire showing from the back on
a two story row home. Taking the rear position,
Wagon 1 nosed into their own hydrant and the crew
ran a line into the backyard. At first, the Wagon's
crew was told to check exposures but with that
quickly accomplished, they extended their line and
pushed past crews in the rear who were just
arriving, making their way up to the second floor to
assist in extinguishment. In the meantime, the
Tower's crew split, sending two men inside to
conduct a search and two to the roof to cut a
ventilation hole. Crews worked hard to quickly
extinguish the fire and the Manassas units remained
on scene to assist with salvage and overhaul,
clearing at 0349 hrs. |
