November 06, 2000 – At 2136 hrs, communication
sounded the box for a house fire at 9300 Battle
Street. Manassas Volunteers responded with Engine,
Wagon, Attack, Tower, Chief and Utility 1. On
arrival Engine 1 reported heavy fire showing from a
single story home. Further investigation revealed
fire in the basement and first floor. Crews
stretched an initial handline into the basement
however the line burned through and were forced to
back out. As other crews arrived, multiple
handlines were stretched to attack the fire. Chief 1
(Lesnick) had command and requested additional units
to the scene. Engine 5 filled station 1. FM 1 and 2
responded to investigate the fire. Units went ready
at 0118 hrs. |
