28, 1988
-
As Mr. Baker was
getting ready for work, he noticed his house was
filling with smoke. He place a call to the Manassas
City Police Department and he, his wife and their
dog evacuated the home. At 0709 hrs The Manassas
Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to 9121 Weir
Place for the house fire. Engine 1-2, Wagon 1 and
Tower 1 arrived to find heavy smoke and fire coming
from the basement area and first floor of the home.
A 2nd alarm was requested as crews began attacking
the fire which was started by an over-heated wood
stove and was now burning swiftly through the
majority.......... |

December 6, 1988
-
At 1531 hrs, a
box alarm was transmitted for a reported fire at
9293 Byrd Drive, in Georgetown South. The report
came from City Police Officer
Carl Barnes, who notified communications from a neighborhood call box. Before
crews were even on the street, Manassas City Fire
Marshal Don Fullem, already in the area, requested a second alarm be
transmitted over the box. He reported
that the fire was
higher than the trees in the neighborhood and flames
could be seen from blocks away.
On arrival, Wagon 1,
Engine 1-2, and
Tower 1 found heavy smoke and fire coming from
several of the row houses.........

11, 1997
-
Manassas
Volunteers responded to 10159 Forest Hills Circle
for a house fire. The fire started as the homeowner
was draining gasoline from two classic automobiles
inside the homes attached garage. Vapors from the
gasoline were ignited by a nearby Kerosene heater,
creating a large fireball in the well sealed garage.
The homeowner, who suffered serious burns during the
explosion, managed to escape the blaze, call 911,
and push a third classic car from in front on the
garage out to the street. The crew from Engine 1
arrived and made entry through the front door of the
home.......... |

31, 2000
-
At 1530 hrs, a
house assignment was dispatched to 9218 Landgreen
Street for a reported fire in the basement.
Tower 1, responding to a medical local, diverted to
Landgreen and arrived first on the scene. The fire
had already flashed and as the Tower crew was
conducting a primary search, they realized it had
burned the floor out in the back portion of the
house. Engine 1, slightly delayed because they had
to pick up their lineman who drove the ambulance on
a previous call to the hospital, arrived shortly
thereafter.......... |

November 06, 2000 – At 2136 hrs, communication
sounded the box for a house fire at 9300 Battle
Street. Manassas Volunteers responded with Engine,
Wagon, Attack, Tower, Chief and Utility 1. On
arrival Engine 1 reported heavy fire showing from a
single story home. Further investigation revealed
fire in the basement and first floor. Crews
stretched an initial handline into the basement
however the line burned through and were forced to
back out. As other crews arrived, multiple
handlines were stretched to attack the fire. Chief 1
(Lesnick) had command and requested additional units
to the scene. Engine 5 filled .......... |

November 13, 2000
-
At 0139 hrs, the
Manassas Volunteers were woken by communications,
alerting them the to respond second due to a
reported fire at 8315 Sunnyside Court, in Manassas
Park. Wagon, Tower, and Chief 1 and Chief 1-1
arrived to find heavy fire showing from the back on
a two story row home. Taking the rear position,
Wagon 1 nosed into their own hydrant and the crew
ran a line into the backyard. At first, the Wagon's
crew was told to check exposures but with that
quickly accomplished, they extended their line and
pushed past crews in the rear who were just
arriving, making their way up to the second floor to

April 22, 2001
-
At 1908 hrs, the
members of Company 1 were alerted to a house fire at
1908 Laws Drive. Engine and Chief 1 were first to
respond. On arrival they found a single story ranch
style home with heavy fire showing through the roof
of the home and attached garage. The crew from
the engine initiated an interior attack with a 2
inch line through the front door. Soon after their
arrival, Engine 1-1, Engine 1-2, Tower 1 and Attack
1 plus units from Prince William County arrived and
went to work. Chief 1 (Lesnick) had

April 24, 2001
-
At 0347 hrs,
Company 1 Fire personnel were alerted to a reported
building fire in the 9200 block of Corporate Circle.
Engine, Tower and Chief 1, staffed completely by
volunteer firemen, responded initially and while
other volunteers came from home to the station and
responded with Engine 1-1 and Attack 1. Crews
arrived to find heavy fire showing through the roof
of 9273 and 9275. Numerous handlines along
with Engine 1's wagon pipe and Tower 1's ladder pipe
were placed in service. Brief interior attacks
were also mounted.......... |

May 19, 2001
-
At 1003 hrs,
Volunteers from the City responded with Wagon,
Tower, and Chief 1 to 10691 Davidson Place in Prince
William County for a fire reported in the roof of
the Don Pablos. Engine 11-1 arrived on the scene and
reported smoke showing from behind the roof facade.
An investigation inside found an activated sprinkler
head and minimal smoke conditions. Crews from 11 and
Tower 1 laddered the building and found fire in the
facade of the roof. The Tower used saws and hooks to
open up the roof, exposing all the fire so the
Engine 11-1's crew could extinguish it. The Wagon's
crew maintained.......... |

March 15, 2003
- Just before 1545 hrs, Chief 8-1 (Deem) notified
Prince William County Fire Communications of fire in
the basement of an occupied dwelling at
7828 Manassas Drive. At the same time communications
was receiving numerous calls reporting the fire and
in the process of setting up the run card. At 1552
hrs, Foam Engine and Tower 1 responded on mutual box
08-05. On arrival Engine 8 (J Rose, now a MVFC
fireman) reported heavy fire showing from a 1 and a
half story Cape Cod. Their crew stretched an attack
line through the front door and encountered heavy

January 25, 2004
- At 1436 hrs, Tower 501, normally first due truck
on this box, added themselves to mutual box 89-03
for a townhouse fire at 9266 Kristy Drive. Manassas
Park’s single dispatcher, who is over-tasked with
answering 911 calls and dispatching police and fire
units, became overwhelmed and was having
difficulties sending the proper units to the run.
Upon arrival, Wagon 509 found a 3 level, middle of
the row, townhouse with fire involving the entire
basement and most of the first floor, as well as
climbing to the second floor. The Tower's interior
crew immediately went to work searching..........

January
31, 2004 - At 2002 hrs, Prince William County Fire
Communications dispatched a box assignment for an
apartment building fire at 8086 Lyon Circle, in the
Stonewall Jackson area of the County. Wagon
511 arrived on scene and reported a three story,
garden style apartment building, with heavy fire on
the third floor and through the roof. Engine
501, who was second due on the box, arrived quickly
and went straight to work. Chief 511 transmitted a
second alarm that brought Tower 501.......... |

August 23,
2004
- At about 1545 hrs today, Prince William County
dispatched a house fire on Crossmans Creek Way in the
Gainesville area of the County. Wagon 501, Tower 501,
and Assistant Chief 501 responded on the first alarm.
Engine 505 arrived on the scene with two single family
houses under construction fully involved with extension
to a third house. When Wagon 501 made it to the scene,
their crew pulled a two and a half inch line and put the
blitz gun in use.
Natural gas lines at two of the houses were ruptured
and burned freely until the gas company arrived to
shut off the gas service.......... |

-
As the
remnants of Hurricane Jeanne rolled through the area,
Manassas Fire Company units were preparing for a long
night of chasing fire alarms and downed power lines.
It all started at 1711 hrs when a fire alarm came in,
then at 1746, a call for wires down, at 1755 a reported
house fire at the trailer park on Centreville Road.
This turned out to be some more downed electrical wires.
Things were looking bleak. As units were clearing
from the trailer park around 1810 hrs, Manassas
dispatched the commercial box assignment for a fire at
Guapos restaurant on Sudley Road ..........

July 5, 2005
- At 0631 hrs, Foam Engine 501 was dispatched along with
Wagon 516 on mutual box 16-01 to 8140 Wilcoxin Station
Way to investigate a fire alarm in a house. While
responding, Prince William County Fire
Communications filled the box for a dwelling fire at
that box location. Wagon 516 arrived on the scene of
a split level single family home with heavy fire
showing from multiple sides and through the roof.
Engine 501 arrived shortly behind 516 and pulled a
second line to the front door. Upon closer
inspection, it appeared that apart from the burning
siding, most of the fire appeared to be.......... |

December
01, 2005 - Just before 1600 hrs today, Prince
William County Fire Communications began to receive
multiple calls reporting a house fire at 9703 King
George Drive, in the West Gate section of the county.
At 1550 hrs, box alarm 11-13 was struck bringing
Engine 501 as the third due engine company. Medic
551 arrived first and advised fire showing from side
A. Engine 511 laid out and pulled a line to the
front door, having Engine 508 pick up their line.
511's officer transmitted the report of people
trapped and requested a second alarm. Engine 501
arrived and took a secondary hydrant.......... |

February 20, 2006 -
At 1121 hrs, Foam
Engine 501 (Rose) was dispatched 4th due on mutual
box 08-01 for a house fire at 8914 Yorkshire Lane.
The supplement from communications advised smoke in
a bedroom. It didn't sound like much until first
arriving Wagon 508 (Brown) reported smoke showing
from side A of a single family detached dwelling. It
was at this time that the Foam Engine could see a
good column of smoke in the sky while still being
several minutes out. The crew from 508 attempted to
make entry through the front of the house along with
Engine and Truck 511.......... |

March 9,
2006
- At 2001 hrs, mutual box 11-13 was sounded bringing
Wagon, Tower, and Assistant Chief 501 from the City
to 7805 Gregory Court. Communications advised the
responding units that the caller was reporting fire
in an attached garage. Assistant Chief 508 arrived
first and reported heavy fire showing. Wagon 511
arrived, laid out and positioned on side A. Their
crew pulled a line and began attacking the fire from
the outside of the garage. Wagon 501 arrived second
and took the hydrant. Their crew pulled a second
line and entered the home through the front door to
cut off fire spread. Tower 501 arrived........ |

2006
- At 1724 hrs, Prince William Communications transmitted the
box for 8671 Trenton Chapel Way, bringing the Tower
Ladder from the City with five men. While units were
responding, communications indicated that there was
some confusion over the address, but that they were
receiving multiple calls reporting a fire. It wasn't
long after pulling out of quarters before the Tower
could see the column, and they still had a ways to
go. First arriving Engine 525 advised they had one
home with the roof well off, and fire quickly
spreading to two exposures. In some developers

2006
-At 0430 hrs, Prince William County Fire
Communications put the box out for 9310 Brentsville
Road, bringing the Engine and Tower Ladder with
eight men. As the units were responding,
communications advised that there were up to six
occupants trapped in the home. Normally second due,
Engine 501 arrived first, along with Tanker 507, to find
a
single story detached home with heavy fire
conditions showing from side A. The Engine's crew
wasted no time running the 300 to side C where they,
along with the Tower attempted to make entry and
begin a search. The crew encountered fire and the
worst Colliers..........

2006
-
At 0504 hours, City Fire Communications transmitted
box alarm 81-09 for the reported house fire in the
9500 block of Liberty Street in Old Town. Engine,
Wagon, Tower, and Chief 501 along with Battalion 581
hit the street with 17 Volunteers. Immediately after
units made the right out of the firehouse, they
could see a large column of smoke. As the companies
made their way through Old Town, smoke filled the
streets. Asst. Chief Lausch in Tower 501 went on the
scene with heavy fire through the roof of a large
two story balloon frame colonial that had been
converted into a rooming house. Though the building
