ENGINE,
TOWER, AND
THE CHIEF ON BUCKHALL HOUSE FIRE |

- At 1646 hours, mutual box 16-08 was sounded for
fire in an occupied dwelling at 7001 Bruin Court,
bringing Foam Engine 501 second due, the Tower first
due, and the Chief. Wagon 516 arrived and reported
fire showing from the garage and, with the report of
a possible victim inside, requested a second alarm.
The Foam Engine and Tower arrived quickly after
Wagon 516. Tower 501's crew rapidly made entry into
the home, without the protection of a hose line, and
began an aggressive primary search. Through high
heat and heavy smoke conditions, the Tower searched
the entire home with no victims found. The Foam
Engine picked up 516's layout and setup for rural
water supply. The Foam Engine's crew advanced a
second line and initially backed 516, who were
knocking down the garage from the driveway. The Foam
Engine then made entry into the home but were
quickly pulled out by command due to concerns over
the fire conditions. The Tower's ladder pipe, also
supplied by the Foam Engine, was place in service
briefly to get a kick knock on the fire. With that
complete, the order was given for the Foam Engine to
re-enter the building. They extended the line with a
high rise bag and, once more made entry through the
garage. When inside, they made a push for the second
floor but were again ordered out by command as fire
came from the roof. Crews operated exterior again
and quickly got a good knock on the fire. The Foam
Engine's and Tower's crews, along with other
companies, entered the building a third time and
operated inside till the fire was under control.
Company 1 fire units cleared the scene at 1926
hours. |
