2 ALARM FIRE IN 11'S DUE, ENGINE AND TOWER RESPOND

January 31, 2004 - At 2002 hrs, Prince William County Fire Communications dispatched a box assignment for an apartment building fire at 8086 Lyon Circle, in the Stonewall Jackson area of the County.  Wagon 511 arrived on scene and reported a three story, garden style apartment building, with heavy fire on the third floor and through the roof.  Engine 501, who was second due on the box, arrived quickly and went straight to work. Chief 511 transmitted a second alarm that brought Tower 501 along with several other County units.  At a point early in the operation, all personnel were called out of the structure in order for Truck 511 to utilize its ladder pipe.  Once the Truck had darkened down most of the fire, crews were sent right back in to extinguish the rest of it. Engine 501 operated multiple hose lines on the fire floor while the Tower handled several different tasks.  Company 501 units cleared around 2245.
