ENGINE, TOWER, AND CHIEF ON LAKE JACKSON HOUSE FIRE

January 11 2007 - At 1156 hours, mutual box 07-06 was sounded for fire in a house at 8250 Lakeshore Drive. With the Engine from 507 already out on another run, Engine 501 was assigned the second due position. Tower 501 arrived with the first due company, Engine 506. The Tower's crew, without the protection of a hose line, advanced ahead of the engine company and aggressively began a primary search. In the process, they located fire on the first floor, and held it in check with the can until the engine company showed up. The outside crew from the Tower through ladders, ventilated, and secured the utilities. The fire appeared to originate in a baseboard heater in the living room on the first floor, involving most of that, and spread through the walls to the ceiling, roof, and a basement utility room. Crews chased extension for a short while before finally declaring the fire out. Engine 501's crew initially backed up 506 and then assisted with opening up. City Fire units went ready at 1315 hours.
