June 22, 2004 - At 0231 hrs, Engine Company 501 was dispatched to an auto fire on Diggs Road.  Wagon 501 responded and found an Isuzu Amigo SUV well involved in fire.  Wagon 501's crew extended the inch and half trash line and quickly knocked down the fire.

SUMMERTIME STORMS CONTINUE TO CAUSE PROBLEMS

June 17, 2004 - A severe thunderstorm swept rapidly through the City of Manassas and Prince William County around 6pm.  During this time, lightning from the storms ignited three house fires in the County.  MVFC volunteers staffed three engines in order to assist with calls in the City as well as several calls in Prince William County.  Wagon 501 responded to one of the house fires in the County while Foam Engine 501 handled water hazards in the City and Engine 501 took a fire alarm in Nokesville.

AUTO ACCIDENT WITH ENTRAPMENT

June 16, 2004 - Shortly after noon today, Manassas City Fire Communications dispatched Wagon, Rescue, Ambulance and Medic 501 to 9506 Center Street, in front of the Harley Davidson Dealership, for a single vehicle auto accident with a report of a trapped victim.  Units arrived on the scene to find one vehicle overturned, with a small fuel leak, and the driver still inside.  Though not seriously injured, crews chose to stabilize the driver while he was still inside the vehicle and then extricate him to reduce the chances of further injury.  Wagon and Rescue 501's crews worked to stabilize the vehicle and cut the roof to facilitate the removal of the patient. Chief 501 (Lesnick) had command. The patient was transported to Prince William Hospital.

EARLY MORNING FIRST DUE HOUSE FIRE

June 15, 2004 - At about 0550 hrs, Company 1 fire and rescue units were dispatched for a house fire in the 9200 block of Douglas Street.  Rescue 501 arrived on the scene first and found smoke coming from a second floor window.  They made entry and conducted a primary victim search while holding the fire to the room of origin with a pressurized water can.  Wagon 501 arrived shortly thereafter and ran an 1 1/2 attack line to extinguish the fire.  Fire damage was contained to the one room, but the second floor did sustain some smoke damage.  The City Fire Marshal arrived on scene to investigate and all units were ready by 0730.

DRILL HOUSE CONTINUES TO GET TORN APART

June 03, 2004 - Members have been consistently taking advantage of the two buildings directly across the street form the fire house that were donated for training.  There is not much left of the two buildings, at least on the inside.  Crews have been conducting many different drills varying from search, forcible entry, ventilation, overhaul, rescue, ladder placement including the aerial, RIT, running lines, and roof operations.  Every now and then we had to evict the occasional homeless person before going to drill but the members have really benefited from have these to buildings right across the street.  As of right now, we're not sure when the buildings will be torn down but hopefully the membership will continue to use them until they go up for demolition.
