WEDNESDAY NIGHT CREW WELCOMES THE CUB SCOUTS

March 31, 2004 - A group of Cub Scouts came to visit the firehouse tonight for a tour.  The Wednesday night crew showed the scouts around the station, let them get in the trucks and look over the equipment. Firefighters taught the scouts about fire safety and what to do in case of an emergency at their house.  As an added treat for the Cubs, Puck, from the Tower Crew and McCuin, from the Engine Crew had a dressing race.  The Engine's man tried hard but he couldn't contend with TOWER's POWER: THE BEST IN THE WEST.  Check out the proof!  Unfortunately the technologically challenged rookie missed the first half. The end is all that matters anyway.

FOAM ENGINE 501 ON BOX CO. 511

March 18, 2004 - Foam Engine 501 responded to a house fire in the 9400 block of Blackstone Road in the Lomond area of Prince William.  The fire, started by an electrical short in a light fixture, was in the walls of the house which made finding it somewhat difficult. Once found though, crews quickly extinguished it.  During the incident, it was learned that an addition had been built onto the house sometime ago and that the original asbestos shingles had never been removed and were subsequently in the walls where the fire was.  Due to the possibility of asbestos contamination, Incident Command decided to decontaminate the turn out gear of all the personnel that were working inside the structure.  FE501 cleared the scene at 1420.
