TRUCK FIRE ON THE PARKWAY

October 18, 2004 - Wagon 501 was dispatched to a truck fire at the intersection of the Prince William Parkway and Liberia Avenue.  The Wagon arrived on the scene to find a cherry picker with fire showing from the engine and the passenger compartment.  The Wagon crew pulled the trash line and began extinguishing the fire.  The fire was quickly extinguished.

FULLY INVOLVED HOUSE IN NOKESVILLE

October 17, 2004 - Wagon, Tower, and Chief 501 responded to a house fire in Nokesville on Naughton Court.  The call was dispatched at 0548 hrs and Nokesville units marked on the scene with heavy fire showing.  Units went to work protecting the houses on either side of the fire building to prevent them from igniting from the intense heat.  Once additional units arrived and established a water supply, an attack on the fire building began and the fire was extinguished.  Wagon and Tower crews assisted with checking the exposure buildings, disconnecting utilities, and assisting with overhaul operations.  The Tower cleared around 0730 and the Wagon cleared about an hour later.

UNITS ON LAKE JACKSON HOUSE FIRE

October 13, 2004 - At 0244 hrs, the Tuesday night duty crew was dispatched to a house fire on Falling Creek Drive in the Lake Jackson area of Prince William County.  Wagon, Tower, and Chief 501 responded along with several Prince William County units.  Crews found heavy fire in the attic of a single family house.  501 crews assisted with extinguishment and overhaul.  Units cleared 0547.

MVFC HOLDS ITS ANNUAL INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS

October 1, 2004 - The Manassas Volunteer Fire Company held its annual installation dinner to usher in the 2004-2005 Administrative, Line, and Auxiliary Officers.  Manassas City Mayor Douglas Waldren was on hand to swear in the new Officers.

Line Officers:  Chief Don Holman; Assistant Chief Jeremy Pope; Captain Matt Lausch; Captain John Wangsness; Lieutenant Chris Klein; Lieutenant Josh McCuin; Lieutenant Frank Flanagan.

Administrative Officers:  President Wade House; Vice-President Craig Flanagan; Secretary/Treasurer Jason Lesnik; Assistant Secretary/Treasurer Richard Ratcliffe; Chaplain Frank Sweet.

Auxiliary Administrative Officers:  President Betty Kealey; Vice-President Ellie Marshall; Recording Secretary Liz Heinbuch; Correspondence Secretary Mattie Parrish; Treasurer Tina Higgins; Chaplain Dot Moore.

Also during the dinner, President House presented the following members with five year service stars.  MVFC members receive one star every five years as a member.  This years recipients are: James Robinson 12th star (60 years); James Stokely 6th star (30 years); Brian Merchant 5th star (25 years); John Wangsness 1st star (5 years); and Robert Ellis 1st star (5 years).

Three annual awards were also presented to deserving members.

Part of the entertainment for the night were two videos.  The first one is entitled "Everyone Goes" which is comprised of clips showing Manassas Fire units responding to calls.  The second video entitled "Manassas Moments" shows clips of funny moments caught on tape as MVFC members have fun between calls.
