FATAL CRASH WITH MULTIPLE MEDEVACS

September 02, 2007 At 1219 hours today, Manassas City Fire Communications transmitted a local alarm for a personal injury accident at Wellington Road and Oakenshaw Drive. As Wagon 501 was leaving quarters, Communications advised that there were possibly people trapped and one on its side. Wagon 501 requested a full assignment bringing Tower 501. The Wagon arrived first to find a four car collision with one on its side and two trapped. They established command and requested a medevac and an additional engine company for the LZ. With a total of five patients, two of which were critical, an additional medevac was requested along with Hazmat 501 for considerable hazards. Chief 501 assumed the command and requested an additional engine company to the scene for manpower brining Wagon 507. Both patients were removed from the vehicle and transported to the LZ. While enroute, one of the patients coded. Wagon 516 landed Aircare 1 and 3 without incident. Units cleared the scene at 1303 hours.
